Svitlana Gootsal

Chief of International Cooperation and Protocol Section of the National Institute for Strategic Studies. She has been working at the Institute since 2004, thereof ten years in the Foreign Policy Department. The main focus of her work there was providing analytical and prognostic support to the President of Ukraine to the Euro-Integration policy of Ukraine, EU and German foreign and domestic policies, the European and Euro-Atlantic security as well as issues of Nation Branding, Public Diplomacy and Strategic Communications. Participating  in  numerous  projects  of  the  NISS  as analyst,  organizer  and  author  of  analytical  papers  on the  above-mentioned  topics Svitlana has gained a rich professional experience in foreign policy and international security. For the  last  nine  years,  she  has  also  been  one  of  the  authors  of  the  Annual  Report  of  the  President  to  the Verkhovna  Rada of Ukraine.

Svitlana holds her Master in International Information from the Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She also participated in numerous academic programs abroad such as Postgraduate Program at Catholic University Eichstaett-Ingolstadt (Germany) (2001-2002, DAAD-Scholarship); International Parliamentary Scholarship in the German Bundestag (IPP-2004); Leaders Program in Advanced Security Studies 08-4, College of International and Security Studies, George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany (2008); Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg of the Robert Bosch Foundation with the Representation of the European Commission in Berlin and the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), (2010, Berlin) and The Third High Level Experts Programme Ukraine in German Federal Foreign Office (2013, Berlin).
